Dr. Kenneth Cottrell: A Lifetime of Service and Compassion

LEXINGTON, Kentucky. Instead of enjoying a quiet retirement after a distinguished 45-year career, Dr. Kenneth Cottrell, a longtime optometrist, has chosen to continue giving back to his community. Practicing in Paintsville, Kentucky, for most of his life, Dr. Cottrell now dedicates his expertise to helping those in need through volunteer work.

Dr. Cottrell spends much of his time at Mission Health Lexington, providing eye care to individuals who would otherwise have limited access to vision services. His work at the clinic involves basic care and providing glasses for patients, many of whom have faced difficult circumstances.

In recognition of his selfless dedication, Dr. Cottrell was recently nominated to become an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Wade Conner, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (HOKC), put forth the nomination, celebrating Dr. Cottrell’s lifelong commitment to service. His ongoing work proves that a lifetime of giving can continue long after one’s formal career ends.
